Daily Itinerary
Athens -Barcelona
We meet at the airport and fly to the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona. On arrival, we transfer to the hotel, check in, and get ready to start exploring.
We begin with our first walking tour in the heart of Barcelona. We stroll along the Ramblas, Spain’s most famous pedestrian street, alive with flower stalls, street artists, painters, and endless energy. Along the Ramblas, we stop at the Canaletes Fountain to drink water, following the local tradition that promises we will return to Barcelona, and we see the favorite meeting point of the fans of 21st‑century football giant FC Barcelona.
Next, we step into the central food and fruit market, La Boqueria. Here we taste famous Spanish cold cuts, sample exotic fruits, and can enjoy fresh fish and tapas in one of the vibrant stalls. This iconic market, one of the largest and oldest in Spain, invites us to discover its wonderful local products.
We then pass by the historic opera house, where many of the world’s greatest tenors and sopranos have performed. Our walk continues to Plaça Reial, a classic Spanish square with elegant arcades. Here you can relax with a coffee or a meal in one of the many inviting cafés and restaurants around the picturesque square.
In the afternoon, we offer an optional excursion to one of Barcelona’s most important landmarks: Park Güell, the masterpiece of renowned architect Antoni Gaudí and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We admire how nature and architecture blend in perfect harmony throughout this unique park.
We then drive through Barcelona’s upscale suburbs and stop for a photo opportunity at Camp Nou, the legendary home stadium of FC Barcelona. Our next stop is the old town and the narrow streets of El Born, where we visit the beautiful church of Santa Maria del Mar, a pure example of Gothic architecture, whose story inspired the bestseller “Cathedral of the Sea.”
We conclude our day on Montjuïc Hill, where we enjoy the Magic Fountain show—a spectacular display of light, water, and music in a stunning setting. This is an experience not to be missed. We then return to the hotel to rest.
We start our tour in Barcelona’s central square, Plaça Catalunya. From there, we drive along the famous Passeig de Gràcia, lined with the city’s most exclusive boutiques and stunning modernist buildings, including Gaudí’s Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.
We stop to admire his greatest masterpiece up close, the iconic Sagrada Família. We then continue past Port Olímpic, the Olympic Marina, the Olympic Village, and Barceloneta, the city’s former fishermen’s quarter that is now a lively seaside district.
Crossing to the other side of the city, we ascend Montjuïc Hill to see the Olympic Stadium and the main venues of the 1992 Games. Our next stop is Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village), a charming open-air museum built for the 1929 World Fair, showcasing architecture and crafts from across Spain.
We finish our tour in the historic Gothic Quarter, where you will see important administrative buildings, the Palace of the Catholic Monarchs, and the Cathedral. In the evening, we suggest experiencing flamenco in its homeland and surrendering to its intense, passionate rhythm.
We begin our day with breakfast, then set off for Figueres, the birthplace of the great Catalan painter Salvador Dalí. After a beautiful two-hour drive through forests of pines and white-barked trees, we arrive at the Dalí Theatre-Museum.
Here we visit the most popular museum in Catalonia and the third most visited in Spain, home to the largest collection of Dalí’s works in the world. In this dreamlike building, we admire paintings spanning his entire life, from his early years to his final creations.
Before leaving, we also explore the permanent jewelry exhibition, featuring 37 unique pieces designed by the multi-talented Dalí himself. After a relaxing coffee in the historic center of Figueres, we depart for the medieval city of Girona.
In Girona, we visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria, which boasts the widest Gothic nave of any church in the world. We stroll through the Jewish Quarter, one of Europe’s best-preserved, where the Sephardic Jews lived until 1492, and take in views of the Onyar River and the colorful riverside houses that evoke the charm of Florence.
We start our day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a free day to explore Barcelona at your own pace.
We recommend visiting the Picasso Museum, housed in five stunning medieval palaces, where we see paintings from the early phase of this 20th-century genius.
Next, we admire the beautiful Church of Santa Maria del Mar, a pure masterpiece of Gothic architecture. We also stroll through Ciutadella Park, Barcelona’s first public park and former fortress of Philip V, created for the 1888 World Fair—with the nearby Arc de Triomf marking its grand entrance.
For marine enthusiasts, we explore one of Europe’s top aquariums, immersing ourselves in the magic of the underwater world. Football fans can visit Camp Nou, home stadium of legendary FC Barcelona; we tour the museum, view golden balls and shoes won by Lionel Messi, and feel the electric atmosphere from the stands of Europe’s largest stadium.
Finally, we discover the Hospital de Sant Pau, the world’s largest Modernist complex—a fairy-tale UNESCO site designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
We start with breakfast at the hotel, followed by free time to enjoy Barcelona at your leisure. We then transfer to the airport for our flight to Athens.
